Planning for Poetry

(Photo by Leatha Kendrick, Robert Frost's home at The Frost Place)

Hurrah, I've finished revisions on the YA novel of mine that will come out in fall 2008 from Candlewick Press (more on that another time). So I'm back to the blog, with TONS of information on upcoming poetry and mystery events and books in progress, as well as a stack of reviews about to erupt.

Urgent: If you can be in New England at the end of June and/or the end of July, plan to attend the open-to-the-public (donations welcome) evening poetry readings at The Frost Place in Franconia, NH. It's a great chance to enjoy world-class poetry and poets.

June readings start at 7:30 p.m.:

Monday June 25: Tim Seibles
tuesday June 26: Patricia Fargnoli (NH poet laureate)
Wednesday June 27: B. J. Ward
Thursday June 28: Dzvinia Orlowsky

The BIG annual Frost Day Celebration is Sunday July 8 at 2 p.m, featuring scholar Robaert Faggen, editor of The Notebooks of Robert Frost, and resident poet Jody Gladding.

The July/August Festival readings are at 8 p.m.:

Sunday July 29: David Keller, Jody Gladding
Monday July 30: Eloise Bruce, Edward Hirsch
Tuesday July 31: Ellen Dudley, Vijay Seshadri
Wednesday August 1: Peter Wood and Festival participants
Thursday August 2: Kazim Ali, Martín Espada
Friday August 3: Barbara Ras, Ellen Byrant Voigt
Saturday August 4: Fred Merchant, Martha Collins

Special event: Wednesday August 1 at 3 p.m., there will be a fantastic gathering of premier(e) poets reading to the public: Donald Hall, Galway Kinnell, Maxine Kumin, Grace Paley. This is a grand benefit for The Frost Place. What a way to savor New England's top voices!
